ASO Tools Comparison 2026

Six ASO tools side by side — AppSqeez, Astro, ASO.dev, AppTweak, MobileAction, and Appfigures — on yearly price, limits, publishing, AI, and MCP.

ASO dashboards above a feature comparison grid

Reading six ASO pricing pages in one afternoon is its own kind of homework, mostly because no two of them meter the same thing. One tool counts keywords, another counts apps, a couple count seats, and one or two seem to be counting on you giving up before you reach the bottom of the page. So we did the homework: AppSqeez next to two other desktop apps and three cloud platforms, compared on price, limits, and how much of the job you can finish without opening a second tool.

One disclosure before the numbers: we build AppSqeez, one of the six tools in this post. We’ve kept things as fair as we know how, and every figure below comes from each vendor’s own pricing or product pages, checked in October 2026. Prices move, so treat this as a snapshot and click the source links at the end before you buy anything.

The short version

  • The three desktop apps here (AppSqeez, Astro, ASO.dev) don’t meter keywords or apps. The three cloud platforms (AppTweak, MobileAction, Appfigures) all do: expect somewhere between 100 and 500 tracked keywords and around five apps on an entry plan.
  • A year of keyword tracking costs $96–$144 with AppSqeez depending on the license batch, $108 with Astro, $150 with MobileAction, $348 with ASO.dev, roughly $432 with Appfigures, and $949 with AppTweak.
  • Only AppSqeez and ASO.dev list an editor that publishes your listing to the stores, and only AppSqeez lists a screenshot design studio.
  • AppSqeez and Astro both ship a local MCP server. AppTweak and MobileAction offer one too, but only through their API products.
  • AppSqeez is the only one of the six that runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux while tracking keywords on both stores.

How we made the numbers comparable

Every price is the cheapest plan that includes keyword rank tracking, billed annually, converted to a yearly total in US dollars. Where a vendor only quotes a monthly rate for annual billing, we multiplied by twelve. That’s the whole trick.

AppSqeez’s own price depends on which license batch you buy into: $96 for a Founding license, $120 for Early, $144 at the regular price. Whatever you bought at is what you keep paying for as long as the subscription stays active. The pricing page shows which batch is open right now.

Astro is the closest match on both price and philosophy: one license, no keyword counting, free to try before you pay anything. It’s a Mac app for the App Store, covering the 60-odd storefronts where Apple Search Ads is available. If that’s your entire world, it’s a perfectly good choice. The moment you also ship on Google Play, or you sit down at a Windows or Linux machine, it’s off the table.

ASO.dev is the strongest of the three at App Store Connect operations. One caveat on the price above: its cheapest plan is a metadata console without rank tracking, and keyword tracking starts on the Indie plan, which is the one we priced. It supports Google Play for listings, releases, and reviews, but the vendor says keyword analytics for Google Play aren’t available yet. Plans are priced per seat.

The plans behind those numbers are AppTweak Essential, MobileAction Lite, and Appfigures Monitor. All three vendors also sell larger plans with higher limits, more seats, and longer data history, at several times the price.

MobileAction is the cheapest way in and also the tightest: 100 keywords and 3 competitors per app. Appfigures has a free plan, and its paid plans start with analytics for your own apps, with keyword tracking kicking in at Monitor. AppTweak starts higher but gives you 500 keywords on a single seat, the most generous allowance of the three.

What the differences mean day to day

Keyword caps change how you research

Good keyword research is wasteful on purpose. You throw in fifty candidates, watch them for two weeks, and keep the eight that moved. Try running that rhythm when a 100-keyword cap is spread across five apps and a handful of countries — you end up rationing instead of researching. With no cap, you track first and prune later.

Publishing without leaving the tool

Most ASO tools stop at analysis. You find the keywords, then sit there pasting them into App Store Connect or Google Play Console by hand, one country at a time. AppSqeez includes a store listing editor with live character counters, named versions, and localization, and it publishes from the same screen. ASO.dev is the only other tool in this comparison that lists the same capability.

Screenshots are part of ASO too

Screenshots drive conversion and conversion feeds ranking, so it has always surprised us how few ASO tools want anything to do with them. AppSqeez ships a screenshot studio with device frames, backgrounds, headlines, and an export that gets validated before upload. ASO.dev will manage and bulk-upload screenshots you made elsewhere. The other four don’t list a screenshot tool at all.

AI on your terms

The cloud platforms and ASO.dev bundle their own AI, which is convenient right up until you ask where your app data is going. AppSqeez goes the other way: the AI assistant runs on your provider. Bring your own API keys for OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or OpenRouter, use a ChatGPT subscription through Codex CLI, or run a model entirely on your machine. You pick the model, and your data stays where you put it.

MCP for your AI tools

An MCP server is what lets an assistant like Claude or Cursor read your ASO data directly, instead of you pasting screenshots into a chat window. AppSqeez includes a local one with Premium, and Astro has a local one in beta. AppTweak’s and MobileAction’s MCP servers live inside their API products, and in MobileAction’s case the API plan is a separate purchase on top of the ASO subscription.

Where the others win

A comparison written by one of the vendors in it owes you this section, so here it is.

  • You need a team in one workspace. An AppSqeez license covers a single device. The cloud platforms sell multi-seat plans that work from any browser.
  • You want market intelligence. Download and revenue estimates for other companies’ apps are a core product of the bigger cloud platforms. AppSqeez sticks to your own keywords, listings, and competitors’ rankings.
  • You live in App Store Connect. If your day is releases, pricing, and review replies on the Apple side, ASO.dev is built around exactly that.
  • You’re on a Mac, App Store only, and want it simple. Astro tracks keywords well at a price similar to ours.

The fine print

  • All competitor details come from each vendor’s public pricing and product pages, checked in October 2026.
  • A dash in the tables means the feature isn’t listed on those pages. We didn’t confirm it’s missing; we only confirmed they don’t mention it.
  • Prices are in USD and vary by region. AppTweak, for example, shows euro prices to European visitors.
  • Appfigures’ and MobileAction’s yearly totals are our own arithmetic on their advertised annual-billing monthly rates.

Try it yourself

The fastest way to settle a comparison is to use the thing. AppSqeez has a free plan with no card required, and Premium comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase. Download AppSqeez or check the current license price.

Put this into practice with AppSqeez — research, track, and optimize for both stores.
